A Very Simple Skin Care Routine

Skin Care RoutineThis article is designed for the woman who doesn’t currently have a skin care routine in place.  She may feel overwhelmed by the vast array of products on the market and their purposes.

This skin care routine is very simple and can be achieved on almost any budget.  The skin on the face is quite thin and is constantly exposed to the weather, sun and environment.  It is also susceptible to internal changes in diet, stress, exercise, and age.  As our face is our presentation to the world, it is worth learning this simple routine, and making it part of your regular morning and evening routine.

The Basics

You need to know about 4 basic products which are the staples of any skin-care routine:

1. Cleanser: Basic soap is too harsh on the skin.  You need something that will not strip the face of all its natural oils.  You should choose a cleanser based on the type of skin that you have: either oily, dry or normal.  Cleanser gets rid of the residue that the face has picked up, along with washing away much dead skin which the skin is constantly shedding.

2. Toner: Once the skin is cleansed and the pores of the skin are free of minuscule debris, you will need a toner to close up the skins pores.  This provides a fresh look as well as minimizing the amount of debris that can get into the pores in the future.

3. Moisturizer:  Cleaning has removed some of the natural oils that the skin needs and now we have a clean skin we can moisturize the skin to replace the oils, as well as giving hydration to the skin. The best anti-aging technique for your skin is to choose a moisturizer that has built-in sunscreen protection.  If you already have purchased a moisturizer, then a sunscreen applied after the moisturizer is good.  Nothing ages the skin faster than the sun.

4. Make-up remover: If you wear make-up during the day, you will need a make-up remover in order to remove your eye make-up.  Generally cleanser is too strong to use around the very thin and delicate eye area.

I would say that these three steps takes me less than two minutes.

Here is the routine and it should be easy to add it to your teeth brushing routine.  It will be easier for you to make this change permanent in your life, if you add the routine to something that you are already doing.  If you don’t brush your teeth at least twice a day, this is a good opportunity to include that into your twice daily face skin care routine.

Morning Skin Care Routine

  • Cleanse;
  • Tone;
  • Moisturize.

nb.  Make sure that you wait at least 10 minutes between putting on your moisturizer and applying make-up.  This will allow time for the moisturizer to be absorbed.

Evening Skin Care Routine

  • Remove Make up;
  • Cleanse;
  • Tone;
  • Moisturize.

Months down the road, there may be extra little treatments that you give your skin to deal with any problems.  For now, however, there is no need to try to absorb everything all at once.  If you only focus on developing a twice daily routine of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing, you will have given yourself an amazing gift.  Better skin, less aging and greater confidence.
