Eyebrow Shaping Tips for the Feminine Woman
Eyebrows frame our face in the same way that a beautiful painting is framed. Knowing how to get the perfect eyebrow shape will frame your face beautifully.
A delicate face with big busy eyebrows is unnerving, as is a strong face with pencil thin lines. What about those women who shave them off completely, and draw on a pretend eyebrow? What about the Uni-brow? 😮
It is important that the frame is in harmony with the painting. In fact, a frame should be so much in harmony, that the observer can not remember the frame as distinct from the artwork.
Let’s share the knowledge and cut down on the eyebrow shape disasters out there
I would soon be arrested if I followed my natural instinct to stop women in the streets and say “Pleeeease… do something about your eyebrows. Their unnaturalness to your features means that I can’t take my eyes off them.“. So, I am going to take a more subtle approach and give you all a mini-lesson on how to get the perfect eyebrow shape for your face.
“What is the best eyebrow shape for my face shape?”
I love it when I am asked this question, because I get to say this… “You are so perfect that you already have come equipped with the correct eyebrow shape for your face. There is no guesswork involved. The perfect shape is already there. You only need to define it and neaten it up. Easy!” 🙂
So, if you don’t have an angled eyebrow, don’t try to carve one out. It is not meant to be and will look unnatural and out of place, no matter how proud you are of your artistic feat.
“How do I know what to pluck and what to keep?”
Firstly, you will need to draw three marks on each eyebrow. To do this, I recommend using an emery board or other thin stick as a guide, and an eyeliner pencil to make a mark that you can remove later.
Here’s how to get the perfect eyebrow shape…
Mark One: The Beginning: Place the emery board vertically, with the bottom touching the side of your nose. Line it up with the inside of your eye, and then draw the first mark at eyebrow level. Draw a line from the top of your eyebrow to the bottom.
Mark Two: The Arch: Still touching the emery board touching the side of your nose, line it out with the center of your eye. Place a dot at the top of the eyebrow. This is the peak of the arch. Alternative version: The traditional way is to hold the stick vertically and align with the outside of your iris, and place a dot at the top of the eyebrow. This makes an earlier arch and thinner outside curve, but many people prefer the first version as being more elegant.
Mark Three: The End: Keep the emery board touching the side of your nose, but now line it up with the outside of your eye. Place a dot where this touches the eyebrow.
Start Removing excess hair
You only want to remove enough hair to tidy your natural eyebrow. As simple as 1-2-3
- Remove any hairs that are before the beginning point, or after the end point.
- You then remove any strays below the eyebrow.
- For an added bit of shape, shape slightly into the arch.
